The Elon Peace Plan: Both Sides of the Jordan
by Arutz 7, May 2, 2003
http://www.arutzsheva.org

Elon's Peace Plan
Finally a realistic Peace Plan offered by an Israeli, instead of being imposed from the outside. This is a plan with historical reality. Israel needs to launch its own PR war to get the facts of Jordan's founding out in the open. The re-writing of history by the Arabs needs to end and Jordan needs to be recognized for what it is and always has been -- the "Palestine" of the Arab world.

Charlene Pinkava, Brookings, SD USA

A Just Solution
I applaud Benny Elon's Solution to this unending conflict. Anything short of this plan is doomed to failure. The Road Map is just another term for the Oslo Disaster which will only lead to more bloodshed. May G-d have mercy on His People.

Ralph Suiskind, Paramus, NJ

Now we are talking!
Mr. Elon's plan is much closer to the truth. Jordan is Palestine and close to 70% of its population are palestinian arabs. That is where the self-appointed "quartet" should concentrate its efforts - how to resettle the arabs from Yesha (and from the rest of Israel if they will not pledge allegiance to Israel) in Jordan. No concessions painful or painless. Arabs were given too many chances and blew them all - they have NO CREDIBILITY!

Alex K, USA

It's about time
Shehechiyanu! Finally, a voice for Israel's position, based on truth and not lies, and a definitive, practical alternative to the Oslo travesty.

Jason Aronson, Beit Shemesh

Free at Last
Finally there is a plan that is not only intelligent, non-suicidal but has an historic basis. Yes, a two state solution is what all parties are calling for but on both sides of the Jordan River. The one thing the Pan-Arab Movement does not need is land. They do need an end to barbarian tactics and the start of freedom for their poor, manipulated, freightened and held down masses.
Yes FREEDOM of information and access to all that we in democratic societies take for granted. Cheers to a New Middle East.

Dr. Jeffrey Fine, 10250 Collins Ave. Miami FL

Be Fair
Considering that the original Palestine mandate included both Israel and Transjordan, it would be fair if Jordan ceded one-third of is land to Israel. Jordan occupies three-quarters of Palestine. Israel including Judea and Samaria is only one-quarter of the land. The have a fair 50-50 division of Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab, Jordan must give up some of its occupied territories.

Professor Menahem Alexenberg, Petach Tikvah

ELON PEACE PLAN
Finally a logical but unmarketable peace plan!

Ray Lewis, Highland Park, IL

Bravo, Elon
The Elon Plan is brilliant and realistic.
It finally recognizes, and reminds the world, that Jordan is the other larger part of "Palestine" and therefore the Land of Israel. With the Jordan River as a boundary, it may well finally calm down all further war and terrorism.
Of course groups like Hamas can never agree to any plan that allows Israel to exist, even if were dwindled down to a street in Tel Aviv. But if we were to be concerned about satisfying them, there could never be any solution except to tell all Jews in Israel to move to Australia. Bravo to Mr. Elon.

Izzy Goodman, 737 Empire Avenue Far Rockaway

Way to go, Elon!
It's a great idea. Beautiful. Keep up the good work Minister Elon. You are a creative leader and open-minded thinker.

Talia Weidmann, Carmiel, Israel

A Slight Chance
At last someone is thinking correctly. It is the ideal answer to every problem.
Unfortunately, it will never work and is doomed to failure even before it gets off the ground. Why? Because every so called civilized country is anti Israel and anti Jewish and therefore they will go along with 'The Road Map' thus playing right into arafat's hands; the hands that pull the strings of his puppet Abbu Mazan.
If the 'correct' plan can be pushed into the arena of thoughts and ideas by those Jews in America who have enough clout to make a difference then perhaps there may be a slight chance of this working.

Lilian Gilad, Raanana, Israel

God's Road Map....NOT mans
I just want to add my support to the "Road Map" that Elon proposses. This was the plan back in 1920 & 22 agreed on by the League of Nations and it's time to put it into action. Two states, one on this side of the Jordon River and Israel on the other.
God has given the mountains of Israel to Israel as an inheritance FOREVER. so why fight against God. you can not win unless you choose God and His "Road Map".

Merry Hart, Chehalis, WA

Benny Elon is insane
This idea is cracked. If Israel is going to declare Israeli sovereignty over Yesha, then it must also declare Israeli sovereignty over the people living there. That in turn requires that the people living there be given FULL Israeli citizenship.
Anything less will mark Israel as becoming the modern day successor to the South African apartheid regime, which stood second only to the Holacaust as a modern-day epitome of evil

motti

Not bad
Not too bad, I would only add few incentives for Yesha arabs to prompt an emigration. And frankly, who needs that sewage, the Gaza strip it is.

toly, USA

At Long Last
Finally a reasonable, just and humane plan to end the Arab-Israeli conflict. Tourism Minister Benny Elon should be congratulated for his "road map." His formula has the best chance of not only creating real peace between Arabs and Jews but also in satisfying the national aspirations of the Arabs who have settled in and around Israel. It will now take great courage and skill to convince our friends and adversaries this is the right road.

Douglas J. Miller, 2301 Meridian, MB, FL 33140 USA

Eminently Sensible
As a Jew, I find the plan and believe it will work.
However, as an observer of the Arab mentality, I recognize that it hasn't got a a snowball's chance in hell. To the Arab, Israel is a dagger in the heart of Islam. The concept of a Palestinian state is not an Arab idea, it was created by the Israeli left who in typical socialist fashion believe you can buy whatever you want (especially with somebody else's currency) and so were anxious to swap "land for peace". That's not what the Arabs want. They want the land. Period. All of it.
Despite my pessimism, I wish Mr. Elon the greatest luck in presenting his plan. He might just make it happen. Stranger things have happened in the Middle East.

Marshall Shapiro, Toronto

YES!
I agree wholeheartedly, but unfortunately I don't see it happening anytime soon. With the world aligned against us, they won't accept any reasonable proposal other than having Israel consent to "painful concessions". Here's to hoping and davening for true shalom.

Mori Sokal

Israel's Choice: The Road to Defeat or The Path of The Victorious
As an American, I urge Israel not to accept the Road Map of The Blind Plan, the latest exciting "flavor of the day" which our President Bush and the Europeans are trying to push down the throats of Israel. It presents no solution because it represents no reality.
The best workable solution is for America and Europe to extricate themselves from trying to solve Israel's tribulations and pleasing the Arabs in the process. They cannot solve these age old problems. They only make things worse for Israel.
There is no political or negotiable solution to this tribulation. It is a warfare that can only be won by doing what THE ALMIGHTY says. The HOLY ONE who gave Israel the Land to possess told Israel precisely what they must do to remain in possession. Therein lies Israel's victory. So what if the nations of the world don't agree. So what if the leftists don't agree. So what if they get upset, and so what if the heathen rage.
Can President Bush withdraw financial aid that The ALMIGHTY HIMSELF cannot supply Israel with when they are doing what HE has commanded? Such blessings do not fall on those who are deaf and disobedient to these Holy Promises. This is Israel's trial of whether they believe The Holy Promises. Can the true faithful in Israel overcome the disobedient faithless and stand against the world in obedient faith to what has been written for them to eternally adhere to?
Through all the sands of time, it is written on the stones of eternity that the heathen cannot live with you in The Promised Land. If they do, they will hurt you unbearably. Your Eternal Father did not say build barriers of separation, or make peace covenants so that all the nations will accept you. HE said drive them from the land so they will not hurt you. Against all the obstacles this world will place before you, Your Almighty Father will help you and fight for you when you do what HE says to do.
Does victory come when you are doing the opposite of what EL SHADDAI says? Would the Red Sea have been parted if Israel had stayed in Egypt? Did the masses of the people have faith and obedience? Or was it just a strong invincible remnant of a few in leadership positions that were faithful and obedient when these great battles occurred that gave Israel victory?

Mary Turner, US

Show and Tell (not in that order)
It comes down to this: will little Israel abide by God's plan? or will Israel continue to try to live up to the world's concept of "goodness." To please influential, well-meaning friends who, in the name of some misguided sense of fairness, are also friends with the emeny...or to please the Creator of the universe (even though many "enlightened" peoples seem to be sitting in judgement against His plan), as unpopular as that is-and has always been, apparently-"gee, let me think about this, please God? or...? hmmm..." tough choice? Yes, very. Obvious choice? Yes, very.
To choose Life is not the easy way. It takes tremdous courage-more courage (and a different kind of courage) than anything so far, including war.

Betsy Penn

Wish Success
I wish your plan every success.
The elimination of the PA and Arafat from the equation (could we have our money back?) and the advantages for Israel and Jordan are the real road map.

Malcolm Kays, London England

Finally
At last someone in the government has openly stated what has always been the most obvious solution to those that honestly understand the full history of the region and peoples involved.

Shlomo Rabinowitz, Oak Park, Michigan

It's about time!
It's about time someone had a realistic solution that would and should work instead of all the idiotic ideas of trying to negotiate and live in peace with people whose only motive in life is the destruction of israel and the jewish people.

Esther Kahn, toronto, canada

Crime Does Pay
Arabs covet what is not theirs.
Elon's plan gives them an opportunity to connect with THEIR roots, where they can (if they are smart) take real pride in their homeland. The real question is, do they want THEIR real homeland?
All this roadmap stuff is a reaction to blackmail. Give in and you get more of the same. Islam is devoid of humanity and it is time they learn. Giving into their violence will not instill humanity into that culture. Elon's plan will give the so-called palestinians a home without teaching them that terror pays.

Eddie

Mr. Elon
This is very interesting and very correct. But how does Mr. Elon propose to to get anyone but us to agree?

MjsAteret, Brooklyn NY

The Elon Plan - the right direction
The Elon plan as outlined has the merit of recognizing the realities of the area. For 5 generations, Palestinians have been kept in refugee camps to act as the spear for the destruction of Israel. Only when the Arab world is ready to accept Israel will there be peace. Once the Arab world accepts peace, why do they need to keep the refugee camps functioning?
The Palestinian refugee situation is the greatest human rights violation since World War II. It is on the heads of both the Arab world and the U.N., which maintains the camps. Let the camps be disolved as a confidence builder.

Stuart Schoenburg, Annapolis, Maryland, U.S.A.

Great Idea. Not new but workable. The only solution

David Lewin

Makes Sense!
Now how do we get this TRUE and workable plan to HAPPEN! Since over 75% of the population of Jordan are already the decendants of those who fled in the 1948 war - they took the advise of their Arabs friends and found themselves homeless and without even Arab friends.

Joan, Atlanta

This is practical reality!!!!!

MM Burnside, Lubbock, Tx

Well done
It took Israel 55 years to come up with a reasonable solution it could live with. All the Israelis that still care for their country understand today that a better future for their children depends in their ability to spread allover the world plans with the same spirit and vision as the Elon plan.

Number 2

Most reasonable solution offered
Given the US is now trying to appease the Arab world by force feeding an unworkable "road map" to Israel, I believe Elon's solution is very reasonable.
In fact, this concept is going to be the only way to true peace in the State. I believe such a solution could be bolstered by more American Jews making aliyah, as I and my family intend to do in the very near future. I believe it is time for us in America to insist our representatives support such a solution. Then we need to commit and go home to Israel!

Craig Lemonds, P.O. Box 716 Lawton, MI 49065 USA

Excellent!!!

Nathan, Toronto

Great, Wonderful
This has to have been the most beautiful story that I have read.
This plan must go through. This is a true road map to peace and I for one support it fully. The U.S. declaired that all types of government holding or harboring terroist should be distroyed then the PA should go too.

Daniel Daneshrad

Wonderful
B"H Wonderful idea, to place the Palestinians over to Jordan especially since the population in Jordan call themselves Palestinians, they need to take care of there own people. May I suggest that if not Jordan then one of the other twenty-two Arab countries, must take in their own people. The Road May will never work, for one reason the Land Mass of Israel can not hold two seperate countries, apart from the fact that there is so much HATE towards Israel, they just want everything, the land, and all that Israel has succeeded in building. I wish the Good Minister Elon the very best of Luck with many Heavenly Blessing to be successful in his plan. I will pray that we should please g-d be able to come and live in peace in Israel soon. Good Shabbos, Rachel Shainberg.

Rochel Shainberg

A plan that actually make sense!
Finally someone who has the right plan to separate the 2 two peoples along the Jordan River. It should have been the only plan from the beginning rather than the "suicide plan" aka the Oslo Accord!

Barry

If only it was that simple
Sounds a bit like the Jordan is Palestine concept in reverse, Palestine is Jordan. Other than the risk of destabilizing Jordan-and the fact is that only die hard supporters of Israel will go for it and there just aren't enough of us.
I would propose instead that Israel seriously propose that the Egyptians donate to the Palestinians an area of 500 square miles along the Sinai Coast linked to Gaza and that Jordan donate to the Palestinians an area of 1500 square miles adjacent to the West Bank. The world can then donate all the funds they want to turn those two areas in prosperous zones with housing for the refugees and the ingathering Palestinians. The world should pressure Egypt and Jordan to make the sacrifice for peace and the Palestinians can purchase these lands from Jordan and Egypt thereby preserving their Arabness. The populations of the West Bank and Gaza can be limited to 2% growth per year including the growth of Jewish settlements. Once this is accomplished and prosperity settles in- the Palestinians should become more interested in peace than war and then solutions found to all remaining issues.

Mitchell Shadowitz, Boca Raton, Florida

Finally, some sanity
I always like Elon, this is the most sane and realistic thing I've seen from a member of the Israeli gov. do in a very long time. We gotta prevent an Oslo II which is precisely what the "roadmap" is.

Michael, USA

Great Plan
The Elon Plan is a great plan. It has incredible merit. It allows Israel to keep the security it needs with out comprimising its dignity.

Jeremy Davis, Beachwood, Ohio

Is he kidding?
Since when has simplicity become an advantage in the arena of peace proposals?
This plan is simple, indeed. So simple is this plan that it absolutely neglects to confront any of the Palestinians' claims, only the Israelis'.
I'd agree that, in all moral and biblical fairness, the Jews "deserve" the entire land of Israel. But c'mon! Who is Benny Elon kidding? And where has he been the past 55 years?

Jake Sebrow, New Jersey

Here's a plan I'll vote for
If I somehow had a vote for this, I would put mine in for this one. I think Elon has a good perspective on the broader issues behind the Israeli-Arab conflict.

Jack, Toronto

The Best
Dear Mr. Elon: This is the very best solution to this problem I have heard yet.
When are people going to wake up. You can't deal with the (GOD OF ISRAEL'S LAND). He has given it to the Jewish people period... I'm glad you're coming to America to open our eyes to this matter. Thank you.
May the Lord God of Israel watch over you and protect you while you are here. A lover of Israel

Robert Benda, P.O.BOX 123 PISMO BEACH, CA. 93448

A Good Solution
I believe this is a good solution to the problem if Jordan agrees.
I think that it would require elimination of the whole PLO completely like the overthrow of Suddam Hussain. What really matters most is that hope will come to a truly suffering people and bring them as they should be to share our interests as well and someday with good interaction we can become friends and work together on common goals.
The strength and drive to make this happen will need the resolve of an Israeli leader with the popularity and moral strength and character to do the right thing even if it is against the whole world like that we in the US find in President Bush.
Ariel Sharon can do it if he wishes to. I pray he will wish to.

Arnold Pollak

Minister Elon's solution
FINALLY, a reasonable solution that will work. The 'road map' is a recipe for disaster. There is no way that people of the 21'st century can coexist with those stuck in the 7th century.

Robert Dietrich, 1312 Burbeck Ave., Richmond, CA USA

The "Elon Plan" falls short and is destined to fail!
Although I do not wish to criticize someone's plan that seems to lean in the right direction, I feel compelled to offer my strong objections to the plan in its present state and hope that he will make some needed adjustments to it.
To begin with, I fail to understand the following stipulation of the plan: "Israel will become sovereign over Judea, Samaria and Gaza, and the Arabs living there will be Jordanian citizens living under a form of autonomy to-be-determined;" How is it possible for the Jewish people to be both sovereign over Yesha (which includes Ramallah, Schem, Gaza City and all other "arab occupied" towns and cities), while at the same, have these Arabs exist under a foreign autonomy? Someone please explain this one to me. Either they are under our control or under someone else's! Has Mr. Elon not learned from the Oslo mistakes?
The only way the Jewish people can exist in Israel is if it is indeed a "Jewish State" meaning a place for only Jews to live in, not Arabs or any other people who are bent on our destruction. (Forgive me if I offended anyone with that statement). In our current state of affairs, we should call this land by a name that more accurately describes it, something along the lines of "Israb" - a place where Arabs and Jews live together in complete disharmony. Unfortunately, there has been only one leader in our generation who publicly and unequivocally called it the way he saw it (Rabbi Meir Kahane of blessed memory) and understood good and well that if we are to survive as a sovereign nation, we need to send all the Arabs out of our country immediately! Why is everyone out there so afraid to talk straight and "call a spade a spade"? We've tried everything else, now it´s time to take charge of the situation and end the violence once and for all!
Why not adapt Kahane's plan for peace in our land? Lets try to work with other countries to relocate all Arabs living in Eretz Yisrael to places far away from our land (not next door). Has anyone contemplated presenting a plan to Turkey, Morrocco or some other Arab country that includes setting up housing and infrastructure for those that will be re-settled there. Israel can have these people set up very nicely in a new country that would offer them a much more palatable culture that would both fit in much better with their Islamic beliefs, as well as, provide them with a better living standard. We can offer those countries very attractive monetary "bonuses" for their cooperation in this project. These monies may even come from the millions going to the "P.A" to resettle these people.
Or just send the Arabs to the rich Saudis who can easily use their wealth to absorb these enemies of the Jewish nation to somewhere closer to their holy places of worship... somewhere closer to Mecca! Let their brothers take care of them as we take care of ours! The Arabs living in Eretz Yisrael are not our problem to deal with. We can´t continue to play the role of policing them this will only lead to more grief.
G-D gave us this land and now is the time for all of us to proclaim our sovereignty over all of Eretz Yisrael... Am Yisrael Chai!

Shlomo Benzaquen, Passaic, NJ

Elon peace plan
I wholeheartedly agree to let the Palestinian move to Jordan. Both peoples would be free to carve out their own future, thereby Israel fulfilling its destiny as leader of the world; paving the way for Moschiah.

LISE GARNEAU/Bnei Noach, Florida

Mr. Elon is right
I am totally for Mr. Elon's peace plan, as it is the most practical solution in light of the unwavering terrorism Israel faces at the hands of the PA. Simply granting the Palestinians another state on Judea and Samaria will not solve the problem, it will exacerbate it.
Unfortunately, I am also a realist, and I know that this plan isn't receiving support in the international community, or even in Israel, where the population wants simply the least painful way to achieve peace with its neighbors.
I am interested to know a couple of things:
1. On Moledet's website, it indicates that 20 percent of Israelis support the absorption of the Arabs in the West Bank into Jordan. Is this accurate?
2. Will this plan make any headway in the United States, wher I live?
I would personally love to see it proposed to Congress and other leaders, who may pressure the president to head in this direction rather than the "road map." Thank You.

Nir, 104 S. Edinburgh Ave.

I like it
Its a wonderful plan, and I think its a great solution, but realistically it will never work, it doesnt even closely resemble the Palestinian demands, and thus with both sides not being satisfied peace will not be attained.

Shaya, Canada

The Elon Peace Plan
This makes absolute sense.

Sid Estrin

Just but never to be acceptable
Even thought this is the just solution given histories unfair establishment of regional sovereignties, it will never be accepted by the international communities.

Mm, Chicago, IL

But..... duh
This can never work. It is too simple, reasonable, and fair. and it actually solves the problem and thus puts UN and State Dept beaurocrats out of a job. Furthermore there is not a hint of slander toward the Jews. Nah... this will never work.

Dr. Fred E. Ehrlich, P.O. Box 1402 Lynnwood WA 98046

Clear and Simple
This plan is neat for us Jews, Arabs will not accept it, Americans and Europeans will not have the courage to endorse.

Jose Wais, Argentina

At Last
At last a solution that encompasses historical foundations and modern situations. This solution does not appear to compromise Israeli security, as far as I can tell. It is simple in concept, but may prove less difficult to achieve than the so-called "Road Map". As a Bible publisher in the United States, I am very interested in the long-term stability and security of Israel. I served as a radio correspondent in Jerusalem for a short time. I have seen first hand the problems. I have friends in Israel. I want to see that they are safe and can prosper without fear of terrorist bombings in buses and cafes. May God grant Minister Elon wisdom and tenacity to see his plan through to completion.

Charles Welty, Davidson Press, Fullerton, CA http://davidsonpress.com

You have my vote!
As a Christian Pastor and strong supporter of Israel I agree whole heartedly with the proposed Israel-Jordan two state solution. The PLO's days as a terrorist regime are coming to an end and it is time for the Arab community to step up to the plate and make some "concessions" of their own for the betterment of their "Palestinian Brothers."

Rev. Frank Lenihan, HC 66 Box 24 Frazer, MT 59225 USA

Good Idea

mark

LOL
this is bullsh!@. Arab expulsion? Get over yourself you Jews. Palestine is for Arabs, not Yehudiym. Leave now. Thank you.

Uhhhhhhhhh, hahaha

Reality vs. 2 States in Israel
What are the realities of asking for 2 States within America or France? Why must Israel be given a ROADMAP to rewarding the killing of Israel by the vipers who throw their children into the fires of the god Allah?

Arnie, Houston, TX

Not a fair plan
Israel boasts that they are a democracy, but this plan does not call for this, with the arabs living in certain areas. People are getting impatient with Israel and their demands. People feel sorry for them, because of the holocaust, but they are taking avantage of this, and we are tired of terrorism. Be fair to the Palestinian, and stop mowing down children and young girls.

Ms. Smith, California

Elon Peace Plan
Why didn't they think of this before Oslo. This is so simple it's briliant...

Jim Garrison, Newberg Oregon

Comments on The Elon Peace
I am a Jew 2nd generation born in the United States. I follow political and social issues in Israel very closely. It is my opinion that the plan outlines in this story offers Israel, it's people and the Palestinian's the best possible solution for a peace that is built on moral high ground.
Israel must be in control of it's borders, just like any other country in the world. For Israel to give up land that was promised to her by her creator and paid for by brave Jews who spilt their blood for the cause of freedom, not to mention all the innocent lives lost in that last three years, it just doesn't make sense to proceed in any other way!
I feel like this solution will protect the rights of all concerned and allow the Jews and the Arabs to live in a world that offers promise and peace to it's citizens.
Best plan I have read to date...

Stephan McCarroll, 42751 Mtn. Shadow Rd., Murrieta, CA 92562 USA

Great Plan
There is a way that seems right to the PA and there is a way that seems right to the EU and there is a way that seems right to the US State Dept and the end thereof is death. This plan is the nearest to the Scripture that I have seen. Let's go God's way.

Franklin Blodgett, Eagle River, Alaska

Mr. Elon is being too kind
Although Mr. Elon's plan sounds like a good reasonable solution to the Palestinian problem, he is too kind to them. After all they have put Israel through in the last 2 intifidas, they should just be DUMPED on the other side of the Jordan, with or without the agreement of the Jordanians. At this juncture expulsion is almost too kind. Regardless, Ill go alond with any plan that rids the Jewish State of the Arab Vermon. LONG LIVE B'NEI YISROEL.

Avi Willinger, New Jersey

Worth Considering
With 55 years of utter failure to achieve "peace" with the Arabs, the Elon Peace Plan is worth investigating. A radical approach such as this could prove to be quite sensible.

David E. Bronfman, Toronto, Canada

The Best Since 1948
I think this proposal is the best I have ever seen since 1948. If the world leaders will get behind it it will work. the chief of all the terrorists and his thugs have to go the same way as those in Afganistan & Iraq.

Stanley Pedler, Thursday island, Queensland Australia 4875

The Elon Plan
It's the only plan that will work in the long run. The "Road Map" is Oslo with a new name and will lead to more terrorism and war.

Zev Post, Chicago Illinois

Super
A plan that makes almost perfect sense - and one that is actually good for the Jews! Eretz Yisrael is known as the land of the Jews - makes sense that our priorities should reflect this. Any non- Jew choosing to live in Eretz Yisrael should be accorded civil rights etc. - as long as he is a peaceful resident & abides by the conditions stated in the Torah (Bible).

F. Schapiro, Brooklyn, NY

Sounds Good
has to be pushed as hard as posible

e.v., L.A.

Thank You Benny Elon
Thank you for having the courage to do what is right. Your peace plan is much more reasonable than that proposed by Bush and the quartet. Those Arabs who refuse to obey Israeli law should be arrested and/or deported. Your fourth point regarding Arabs living in Israel as Jordanian citizens with some sort of autonomy is not really workable as I see it. If they don´t have a work permit then they should not be there. The rest of your plan seems very good. Thank you again and please keep up the hard work you are doing. Sincerely,

Jay Silverman, 1361 Tierra Circle Winter Park, FL

Sounds Great
It sounds utopic. If you were dealing with reasonable people this would be a great plan. Unfortunately the Jordanians as the rest of the Arab nations have never wanted to incorporate the Palestinians in the past. Why would they be interested now? I dont beleive the Palestinian issue is about the Palestinians, it's about the destruction of the Jewish State.

Julie Berman, Mansfield, Texas

Billions Available
Billions of Dollars would be forthcoming from the US and other governments and individuals to facilitate such a reasonable and wonderful concept. Israel, Jordan-Palestine and the world would be truly blessed. Let's get George W. on board.

Robert Rand, 21 Silver Star Drive, Ontario, Canada

The Elon Plan needs feet
We have a heard very few responses to the "Road Map" from Israeli government leaders until Minister Elon's no non-sense plan was introduced. However, selling it to the U.S. Congress and other allies is counter productive if our current Israeli leadership are either accepting the Quartet's suicide plan or are being silenced for fear of losing their seats.
Citizens and lovers of Israel must gives life to Benny Elon's plan by stepping out of the malaise of the last few years and putting on a pair of feet to show Labor & Likud that nothing close to the "Road Map" is acceptable.
Our sons and daughters have paid too high a price for us to allow the world to determine the fate of our beloved Israel

Izzy Kaplan, 20 Sunnycrest Rd. Willowdale

Thank G-D that someone is saying this publicly.

Mason McLemore, Kirbyville, Texas USA

Road Map vs. Elon
What G-d promised to Israel in His Word does not agree with the "Road Map". Therefore, the Road Map will never fly. What Minister Elon proposes lines up more with the Bible, and therefore has a better chance for success. Israel will eventually have full control over Eretz Israel as promised to Abraham, Isaak, and Jacob. God is faithful.

Karl-Ernst Lich, Castlegar, B.C. Canada

I agree
Benny Elon's plan has the advantages over "The Road Map" in that the latter is unworkable. The Road Map would create a 2-chunk state - rather like the original East & West Pakistan, which ended in war & 2 separate states. I also agree that the "Palestinian Arabs" have proved incapable of running a state themselves. Since the dispute is not just with these Arabs but is sponsored by the whole Arab world, it is logical that the solution is found with Jordan. As the late King Hussein said: "Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan".

M.Lester, London, UK

Elon Plan
Well, it's about time that this idea be rejuvenated. I believe now that the real intentions of the PA are understood by many more people - and very importantly Christian Zionists of the U.S. - this plan has a chance of being taken seriously. It will have to be repeated again and again until it takes hold in people's minds as something viable and possible.

Chaya Eitan, Bat Yam, Israel

Still semi-solution
The only real solution is the palestinian state in Uganda!

Mark Povolotskiy, Los Angeles

Heavenly Music
Bs"d. The land of Israel is universally known as the Holy Land. This holiness stems from two sources. Firstly, the holiness is inherent to the land and secondly, holiness comes from the nation of Israel, who sanctifies the land with holiness by fulfilling the biblical commandments specific to the Holy Land.
The nation of Israel has been designated in the Bible with the job of being the priestly nation - a kingdom of priests for the entire world. No occupying governing power other than the Israelites, have the divine authority or inclination to adhere to the Biblical commandments. Thereby any other occupying government, be it democratic, or terrorist, will be incapable of actualizing the raison d'etre of the Holy Land.
To illustrate this point, consider this analogy. We have a very precious and rare violin that is capable of producing the most heavenly music. Who shall be the caretaker of this violin? a. Shall it be a prestigious museum?
b. Shall it be someone who hates music and wishes to crush the violin?
c. Shall it be a virtuoso violinist who is capable of producing heavenly music for all to enjoy.
The answer should be obvious. A secular democratic governing body would be equivalent in this analogy to the prestigious museum. A terrorist governing body would be equivalent to someone who hates music. The Israelites, according to the Bible, have been designated with the divine mission of being a kingdom of priests. They are obligated to adhere to the commandments of the Bible. To continue this analogy, the commandments of the Bible are equivalent to the musical notes for the violin.
Only Israel, the divinely gifted violinist, is capable of producing heavenly music for the world to enjoy. Benny Elon's proposal should be seriously considered in order that the world be blessed with beautiful music. Amen!

Israel To Ask Syria To Dismantle
Priminister Sharon of Israel has asked Assad of Syria to immediately dismantle the illegal Hezbolah settlements on the southern border of Lebanon. Israel to assist Assad by dropping five MOAB bombs on the Hezbolah enclaves in Lebanon Becca Valley.

Arnie Houston, TX

Thinking out of the box
What box is that? You might ask. The one imposed on Israel by the world including the US:
Restrain yourself until we can work out a settlement where you get out of the occupied territories and agree to borders roughly along the green line.
Never mind that your people are being killed and demonized and that your economy is being greatly weakened.
Never mind that the Arabs will never accept you and will plot to destroy you. That box.
If you ask any Jew or supporter of Israel if Israel could have any solution it wants, what would it be? We would all answer Israel's eastern border will coincide with the Jordanian border and that All Arabs within the state of Israel be relocated. Israel from the Mediterranean to the Jordan. After all we won it fair and square in a defensive war.
It is ours. We need it for growth. We need to be in control of our water resources. We need the high ground for defensive purposes. Our biblical roots are there. The reasons are self obvious and too many to mention here.
Our fight is with the Arabs, not the "Palestinians". We are not trying to work out a border between Israel and the Palestinians but Israel and the other Arab countries. They already have 22 countries and more land and wealth then they know what to do with. The Arabs within these borders can easily be absorbed on these lands with their wealth. These countries should be responsible to absorb them. After all, they started the wars that created them. Israel from the Mediterranean to the Jordan represents maybe 4% of the total land area. Israel must make its demands known and show the courage and passion to fight for them. We will not be alone. The American people will be with us.
The debate should shift from where the borders will be to how to get rid of the Arabs within them. Many Road Maps can be drawn up that explore that issue from the extreme of forcible transfer to the balm of inducement to resettle. Or a combination of both.
Don't worry; forcible transfer was approved by the world when Israel forcibly transferred Jews out of the Sinai. Forcible transfer is now intended for the Jews in the territories as soon as the '67 borders are forced upon us. So if the borders are to be the Jordan River, then it will be the Arabs who will be transferred. Now let us assume that the Arabs will be mad at us or will be calling for our death and destruction. We've seen it all before and are exposed to it daily. So what's the difference? At least we will have great borders, no demographic problem no water problem, no terrorism etc. What can be bad?

Elon Plan
Yes!!!! One of my favorite aspects of the Iraq war was TV coverage showing maps of the whole region, with huge Arab countries and little Israel.
Unfortunately, well intentioned but uninformed people do not know the geographical reality, and thus may have a distorted view of who is David and who is Goliath in this conflict.
Israeli government officials, media, etc should constantly be showing maps of original British Mandatory Palestine as well as the entire Middle East, in order to drive this point home.

Robert Goldberger, Thornhill, Ontario

Rabbi Elon Must Gather Support
It is Sunday afternoon (May 4/Iyar 2) in Israel. I see most of the 90 comments on Rabbi Elon's Road-Map as supportive.
He MUST publish it world-wide.
He MUST obtain all the coverage he can - and then more - on English-speaking TV/Radio programs. His Road-Map should become the talking point of the radio waves.
Simultaneously, all self-respecting Israeli MK's should immediately sign a supportive document AND PUBLISH IT.

Elliott Wartski

It's a Start!
All none Israeli arabs should be booted out. The PA-arabs do not have a right? to jobs in Israel? why should a country support people that seek its elimination from the planet?

John Davis, Vancouver, WA

Elon's Peace Plan
I think that is a good solution to the Road Map, which I agree, is very dangerous to Israel and the Jewish people.
We finally have our homeland back. As Jews, we should do everything we can to protest giving up any part of our G-d given land. We should not have this Road Map pushed down our throats. It is up to the Israeli government to see that it doesn't happen. They must be strong and stand up for Eretz Yisrael and Am Yisrael. As a daughter of Holocaust survivors, I stand firmly for protecting and not dividing the only country we have.

Hanna Cohen, 12 Leary Lane Nesconset, NY 11767

Good on you, Benny
Yet another brilliant piece of work by the head of Israel's most moral and sensible political party.

Response to Motti ("Benny Elon is insane")
This idea is cracked. If the PA is going to declare Palestinian sovereignty over Yesha, then it must also declare Palestinian sovereignty over the people living there. That in turn requires that the people living there be given FULL Palestinian citizenship. Anything less will mark Palestine as becoming the modern day successor to the South African apartheid regime, which stood second only to the Holocaust as a modern-day epitome of evil.

Kick the Habit
On the surface, Mr. Elon's plan seems to be a note of practicality amidst the continual cycle of terrorism. Israel's dependence on the U.S. has become a drug habit & Israel is now run by remote control from Washington. The Sharon government is reliant on it's next 'fix': The U.S. 'Roadmap'. By U.S. dictate, the Israeli people no longer have a right to determine what is needed for their own safety, U.S. policy being: 'Do as I say, not as I do!' The Sharon government's blind acceptance of the 'Roadmap' & attempts to get Mr. Elon to 'shut up' is Israel's sell-out.
It is critical, at this juncture, that the Israeli people take control of their own destiny, & not allow the U.S. to drag them through more failure. Arafat & the P.A. must be removed, terrorism must be removed & Arabs must be moved. To date, Mr. Elon has the best alternative to the failed Oslo process & should be seriously considered.

David B. Walker, 5822 CR 73, Robstown, TX USA

Jordan as Palestine, Focus on $$$
I've been kicking about MK Elon's plan for a while, and I believe that it can become a reality if it were not referred to as another "plan."
Encourage the quartet to invest in Jordanian business. Encourage Arabs West of the Jordan to profit from foreign investment East of the Jordan. In parallel, eliminate terror. Since West of the Jordan, Arab government is akin to terror, without leadership, Jordan will look like a good alternative to Arabs on the Western side.
The King cannot turn down foreign investments, lest it appear he is refusing to permit the majority of Palestinians in Jordan enjoy the freedom of making their own living. It is an idea worth fleshing out with the quartet (or perhaps only the US and UK). The investors stand to profit more than if they were to invest in the PA anyway.

Seth Greenberg, Raanana, Israel

Reasonable
At first reading, the Elon plan sounds convincing and reasonable. To end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict we have to go back in history.
This problem is primarily the business between Jordan and Israel. It should be treated in isolation from the overall Arab problem complex. It is clear that the Palestinians have been used for keeping the whole Islamic world in turmoil and incited against the West and the Jews worldwide.
The Elon Plan should be widely circulated and publicized.

Mike Kerr, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

The Plan
It is about time someone in the Sharon government had some sense. There is no way the Arabs and the Jews are going to live side-by-side in Israel. Jordan is the obvious solution

Bravo Minister Elon
At last a member of the coalition government that is ready to speak the truth. The PA can never and by the grace of G-d, will never rule in any part of the Land of Israel - the Jewish People's sacred inheritance since time immemorial.

Pesach Nussbaum, Montreal, Canada

Good Alternative
Rabbi Elon's plan is important in that it conveys to all clear-thinking people: "Hey, there is an alternative to Road Map Mania. There is an answer based on truth, that can actually benefit both parties." Of course, without pressure from the right places, the Arabs are certain to reject it.

Yossie, Los Angeles

Great Solution
I like Mr. Elon's proposal. As others have commented it is a sane solution and does not require Israel to commit national suicide. But I have one question: Does not the Biblical deed for Israel include both sides of the Jordan River?

Rob Blackwell, Prince George, B.C., Canada

Not my business, but my thought
I am not Jewish, but Christian, so what I express is an outsider's opionion.
I do think that Minister Benny Elon's plan is the most realistist of all plans I have seen. I do hope peace to the people of Israel.

Don Burlison, Albany, GA, USA

Fresh thinking worth serious consideration
I hope and believe that PM Sharon will eventually embrace this idea. Even though he has stated publicly that the time is not right for this plan now, I have a feeling he will know when the time is right and then support it wholeheartedly.

Phil Borod, Aventura, FL

Rebirth of an Idea That Never Died
Of course, this is basically the reason why the country that used to be called "Trans-Jordan" was established: to be the national homeland of Arabs living in "Palestine" and environs. The vastly smaller section given to the Jews was then further truncated to render it minimally adaquate to the need of the hour.
After more than 50 years of strife and suffering, Elon's solution is the only plan that makes any sense -- even though it is unlikely that the US, Jordan, or the Arabs living in Yesha will agree.

David Sears, Brooklyn, NY

Sensible Words
It is time for this proposal to come into reality. No country should be with evil doers. Let us pray that the USA listens and forget the UN and the enemies within its walls. We are ready, blow all the shofars on this day of selection of this proposal and bless his mighty name for he will hear and is with us.

Claire Ehrlich, 150 alton road #1205

GO BENNY GO!
We support Benny Elon's Peace Treaty 100%.
It is the only proposal which respects Biblical principles of total Jewish control of Israel and blesses the "strangers in our midst" as long as they are honest law abiding people. G-D is able to win victory for Israel with or without external support. However, Benny's invitation to foreign countries to participate in this mitzvah is wise and generous.
We pray America and many other countries will receive a blessing by actively supporting this innovative plan.

Michael and Betty McGowan, Zimmerman, Minnesota

FOR A REAL AND JUST PEACE, ALL ARAB OCCUPIED LANDS OF ISRAEL MUST BE RETURNED TO ISRAEL!
ALL ARAB OCCUPIED LANDS OF ISRAEL MUST BE RETURNED TO ISRAEL, INCLUDING ARABS IN YESHA, JORDAN, SYRIAN OCCUPIED GOLAN AREAS LOST IN 1973, AND LEBANESE OCCUPIED NORTHERN ISRAEL (DAN REGION). This was never & can never be about ISRAELI land for peace; it is about greedy & terrorist Muslims who already have millions of square miles of land & dozens of nations, oil, and desire to dominate the Earth. DOES PEACE REALLY HINGE ON A FEW THOUSAND MORE SQUARE MILES, REALLY? THIS IS ONLY PROPAGANDA. ISRAEL IS GOD'S GIFT TO HUMANITY! The Land was given by G-D to the descendants of Abraham in an unconditional Covenant - B'resheet 17:7-8 The Land was not given to the descendants of Ishmael, but rather to the descendants of Isaac - B'resheet 17:21 G-D's promise to Israel is as certain as the existence of the universe. - Yehezk'el 37:35-37 "We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us." Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir Even the Quran recognizes Israel belonging to the Jewish people in the Night's Journey, 17:104. GLOBALLY, MUSLIMS MUST RETURN KASHMIR TO FULL INDIAN CONTROL; CHECHNYA TO RUSSIAN CONTROL; START DEMOCRATIC REFORMS IN ALL DESPOTIC REGIMES.

United Hashemite Kingdom
The viability of Benny Elon's Jordan-is-Palestine option may be enhanced by current circumstances in the Middle East. In particular, with the overthrow of Saddam, a possibility presents itself for a merger of Jordan and Iraq into a United Hashemite Kingdom. This larger state would have far greater absorptive capacity for Palestinians (both those currently living west of the Jordan, and also those presently in refugee camps in Arab states). Also, because of Iraq's oil wealth and other natural resources, it would offer to potential Palestinian immigrants (as well as to Jordan's government) a greater economic incentive to pursue this kind of plan.

These people can't be serious!
What's good with Elon's roadmap?
Israel has been the world's preacher against nazi methods, and now Elon is talking about "implementing Ghettos" for palestinians. Shame on you.
Commentators of this article: You should know better then sitting behind your computers and supporting racism. Reverse the politics, what if Palestinian authority wants a roadmap which decides that israelis should be Jordanian citizens? Will you accept it? Stop being naive.

Is this correct? The Palestinians in Israel will be stripped of citizenship and called Jordanian or forced to move out of Israel. This does sound like a final solution.

RE: kick the arabs out
After Israel kicks the Arabs out then US can kick the jews out of the US. You see how absurd your thinking is. The pilgrims came to America because they thought they had divine providence so does that give them the right to kick the Jews out? This is racial to treat others like they are less than you. I am beginning to feel really sorry for the Palestian.

Candice

Kudos to Mr. Elon
Hooray to Mr. Elon. His idea for peace is a good start to a great idea. However, I have one issue with his "Road Map". It has to do with the idea of "GIVING" the "EAST BANK" to the Arabs. Instead of "Giving" it to them, we should kick the Arabs out of that area also. After all, according to Internal treaties, the "East Bank" (i.e. Jordan) belongs to the Jewish Commonwealth ( i.e. Israel). This area was "GIVEN" to the Arabs illegally by the British (Winston Churchhill).
Tell me why we should allow them to continue to profit from their ongoing crimes. In order for there to be peace, the Arabs must be relocated to somewhere else (i.e. Saudi Arabia).

Mike Anderson, San Diego, Ca, U.S.A.

To Candice
You say that you feel sorry for the Palestinians, and hint about kicking Jews out of America. How sorry do you feel for the native Indians, Candice? You are living in land that was originally theirs. But your beloved Pilgrims (and others) committed genocide against them and stole their land (and entire continent!).
Now you are enjoying the benefits of that genocide and ethnic cleansing while the Indians live in ghettos called "reservations". Perhaps, we should be talking about the Indians kicking YOU out of America, Candice?

Solomon Weiskop, Port Jefferson, NY

Solomon - Candace's post
You obviously misinterpreted the post. It was saying it was absurd to kick people out, and you really need to look at the 21st century. America is the biggest melting pot in the world, now isn't it? Can we say this about Israel?

Katz, USA

To Katz
No, I didn't misinterpret Candice's post. As you say, she thinks it is "absurd" for Israel to kick people out. So I pointed out that it is ABSURD AND HYPOCRITICAL for someone living in the US to criticize Israel for wanting to kick out Arabs from Eretz Yisrael since the Americans not only kicked out the Indians, but committed genocide against them and stole an entire continent from them.
Israel, on the other hand, never committed genocide against Palestinians (in fact, the number of Palestinians has vastly increased!) Furthermore, whereas the US took an entire North American continent from the Indians, Israel took only less than one percent of the Middle East (actually GIVEN by UN), and this land was, after all, historically Jewish anyways.
There are 22 Arab states for the Arabs (more than 99% of the Middle East). How many Indian countries are there in North America?
Katz, you are living in the same dreamworld that Candice is. You somehow think that "American" history began only after the white men pushed out and killed off all the Indians. I have news for you, Katz, your beloved "melting pot" is built on the graves and stolen land of the Indians. And don't give me this nonsense about "living in the 21st century". The only reason that America doesn't today face an "Indian problem" similar to Israel's "Palestinian problem" is that America killed all the Indians and forced the few survivors onto reservations! If Israel had done to the Palestinians the things that America did to the Indians, there would be no Palestinian problem in the 21st century either.
